Abstract

Background: Opioid use for acute and chronic pain has increased substantially over the last two decades, accompanied by a rise in opioid-related adverse events and overdose deaths. Identifying effective opioid alternatives and strengthening overdose management protocols remain critical priorities.

Objective: To evaluate patterns of opioid alternative utilization and clinical outcomes of opioid overdose management in a tertiary care hospital.
